This was a quick, fun project done to familiarize myself with low-poly 3D design and development, lighting, and particle systems in Unity, in response to a prompt to build a mobile VR app that reflects a particular feeling or mood. I chose ‘hopelessness’, and built a satirical piece inspired by the ‘there’s light at the end of the tunnel’ phrase. The user looks forward to keep moving forward in the tunnel, and pauses by looking down. The longer the user looks forward, and progresses in the tunnel, the longer the tunnel becomes, and thus the farther the light becomes. As time passes by, the lengthening of the tunnel also happens at an increasing speed, making it clear that there’s no real ending. Sad?
